The New York Women's Surf Film Festival, a project of Lava Girl Surf, celebrates the filmmakers and female wave riders who live to surf, highlighting their sense of adventure, connection to the ocean and love for their own communities and those they discover.

Dirty Old Wedge The Movie | Free Screening

THE STORY OF THE WORLD'S MOST INFAMOUS SHOREBREAK AND THOSE WHO LIVE IT. 

The Wedge, located at the end of the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, California, is a world famous, man-made beast of a wave. Since its creation, people have flocked from all over to see it in its mythical form. Wedge waves can be as powerful as any on Earth. It is a place where injuries are common and where even deaths have occurred. 

Dirty Old Wedge is a documentary film that will showcase the history of the Wedge starting from its creation in the 1930's. A unique assemblage of bodysurfers which has come to be known as the "Wedge Crew" will be one of the focal points of this film, highlighting their relationships with the wave and with one another. NYC Women's Surf Film Festival 2016

We are excited to host the 4th Annual NYC Women's Surf Film Festival at the Rockaway Beach Surf Club. This year the festival will run over two nights. Friday August 12th - includes opening reception for Fran Miller's photo exhibition PRIMA DONNA 7-9PM, we will also screen a series of short films. There will be an opportunity to meet and greet filmmakers and notable surfers including Erin 'Worm' Ashley. Saturday August 13th will be the film festival, screening 2 feature surf films and a number of shorts, there will be a raffle drawn with the chance to win either a Natures Shapes or Wax Surf Co Surfboard, a Kona Brewing Co Cruiser and many other amazing prizes.  Fore more information you can go to nycwomenssurffilm.com
